I have a love of little toys and of clean crisp images. This is my attempt to create a standard, crisp composition to place things into. Also the square crop does a lot for me.

My creativity is just urging, and pulsing, and dying to get out. I just need some….

This is just something that happened organically between me and Geraldine. She got the idea of the 70s motif, and the outfits. It made me feel like I’d like to work more closely with a stylist and or a makeup artist so that those aspects of the shoot can be styled and defined and artistically unique. To shoot is to shoot something I see as interesting. It’s easier for me when the ideas are flowing from multiple locations. You can see more of the shoot here.

This is an idea I’ve seen done before, but I liked it and wanted to try it.

I like taking photos mid day in my place, because the light in my apartment comes through the window really well. It’s the best.

2.What I like about the composition of this is the city in the background, and Anne in the middle. She looks lost in the city to me.

Two things to be covered:

.1 — I probably get myself in a lot of trouble sometimes when it comes to what I say. I piss people off, I joke with them and do it too much, I say fucked up things, I hurt people’s feelings…sometimes it’s best for me to shut my freaking gob…

.2 — Is this the beginning of a 365? Or even a 52? Well, I’m not sure. All I know is that I like working with people, and sometimes they’re not available, so I have to play with my self.

I am addicted to Mad Men. The style, the mood, the story, and the production. It’s my favorite show currently on the air, and Lost is still on the air, so, you could say Mad Men took the crown in a way. It is up there on my all time list with Six Feet Under and a ton of different sitcoms.

My style when it comes to photography right now is drifting into a replication of the style and mood of the show, along with some other tricks I’ve picked up along the way.

As for this shoot, I have to say, it was my most in control shoot I’ve ever had. Chris and I conceptualized the shoot at first, but it was my stylization and composition as well as the constant methodical posing that drove this shoot to me. I was given the control and I took it.

I have to say as well as much as I’ve been shooting alone, I’ve had to force myself to be authoritative and decisive when it comes to the execution of a shoot. I feel like my eye for shots has been developing for sometime, but being able to control a shoot is an important thing for what I plan to do. This shoot allowed me to do this.

Appreciation has to go to Livia too for being a down ass model, and showing up in an hour’s notice.

Life is crying, screaming, pain and birth. We kick, we move and we run. We attribute qualities that a “life like” with things that are commonly loud and messy. We know that when death comes for us their is little movement in the end, and thus to optimize each moment we tend to believe we need to be loud and make a mark, an impact.
Babies understand this better than any other creature. They cry, the coo and they scream. They do so because they are now alive. If any person knows what non-existance is like, it’s a baby who have so few moments to compare to anything else. We become annoyed when babies make noises in public places, but maybe we’re annoyed because they get the point of this whole rodeo more than we do.

Like any relationship, friendship is built on common interests, shared history, and ongoing common experiences. It also involves time, and understanding as well as appreciation and need. I think all these things are balanced differently to different people.
We all grow as well, sometimes together, and sometimes apart. Life is the process of living, and the people you chose to involve in your journey as well as who you choose to cut loose.
I never put in the work I should to maintain my relationships, to be honest. I appreciate those who’ve stuck around.

This is an example of me in my comfort zone, outside my place in the underratingly beautiful Pacifica. I shot in some typical places for me, the pier, but I also took it, at the urging of Brian, into the cliffs off the ocean. It’s interesting how if you just cover a little more ground, you’ll find amazing things in your own backyard.
As for the portraits, I like working with non-models sometimes. They can be, more real if you can get it out of them. Brian, to be honest stuck to a certain look, which was what he liked, and I should’ve reach a little farther, but I got some calm shots to match the locations. I need to learn more when it comes to interaction for the sole purpose of provoking facial expressions, but I have time to learn.

If you live in the Bay Area, and you haven’t been to San Francisco and the Academy of Science in Golden Gate Park, then you’re missing out. My first time there I was pretty disappointed, but when I realized the beauty in the three great exhibits they had, the aquarium, the living rain forrest, and the planetarium, I was sold forever.
I could go there every weekend and find something new and beautiful. It recharges me when it comes to non-portrait photography, and even though I repeat going there, I enjoy how it makes me look at things. I think, as an artist, you need to work outside your comfort zone, but when you do that enough, and go to some old things you’ve done, or locations, you find you’ll see things different.
